Useful Terms to Understand This Post:
CompuDoc:
An appointment book, patient information and billing program used at my work. Not used by Doctors much.
Medical Director (MD): The program used by the Doctors to record all notes about a patient, amongst other things. Not used by staff much.
The Rush: The period between 12pm and 2pm where every worker in the CBD has their lunch break, and thusly converges on our practice. Or calls. Or something. Busiest time of the day.

CompuDoc died on Wednesday. Completely. Chucked one *heck* of a hissy fit - everytime someone tried to start it, it would cross it's arms, sit on the floor and start screaming. Then it would just sit there and stare at you....and restart the server. This lasted two hours.

During this two hour joygasm between 10am and 12pm, I had to hand write billings. HAND WRITE. This is using the *old* medicare (national healthcare system thingy) forms that went out with the DINOSAURS. We had to take people's payments and ask them how they would like their receipts to get to them, cause there was no way in hell I was going to even *suggest* the idea of accounts. I was not suicidal by that time.

And to top it off, we had *no idea* who was supposed to be seeing who. So, unless the patient knew or cared, we just randomly distributed patients to Doctors. Which, at the end of the day, worked out well, cause it meant that no one ran late. We should do it more often.

But then the phone calls started. 'Hi, I'd like to make an appointment...' Uh, no. Sorry. Have no computer. Ring back in an hour. 'Oh, ok. Sure.' Leanne called computerwhizguy and he came out and they acted all intelligent. They managaed to get us a screenshot of the day, thus saving our asses and allowing us to tell who, what, when and make appointments for the rest of that day only. And, just to make it all that much more fun, I wasn't even supposed to be there. Colleen called me at 7am and asked me to come in so she could go home.

Finally, they got it up and running, and so I started on the joyous task of actually putting all the billing in the computer, dealing with The Rush, and trying not to pass out from lack of food.

I did the banking for Wednesday yesterday - and it was 100%. Oh, the irony.

I have a seminar tomorrow for work. 8am - 5pm. I HAVE UNIWORK TO DO. *sulks and stomps feet*
