What is the one thing that Christianity has that keeps it separate from every other religion?

Note to self: can miss Media Studies lecture if required, considering he practically read from the slides and we get them after the lecture anyway.

So. Bored.

The stuff is interesting and everything, but seriously; I don't actually *need* to be here. I could be working on my ancient history assignment which I have to get done so I can start my english one which I have to get done so I can do my media studies one. All by April 28. Rockin. I can't start my english one yet because we don't get the topics until April 2. And I have no idea about the media studies one yet.

*sighs* I have alot of work to do.

I have the car today! Yay! It was SO NICE to drive in instead of sitting on a bus and walking and getting hot and waiting and changing busses and blah. Just lovely. And I can drive home and leave when I want and yay.

Oops, lecture starting again. *props eyes open*

HOT.

It was *38C* yesterday. They sad it was only going to be 31C. HOT.

And today they're saying it's going to be 34C. Well, it's heading there, and fast.

*sighs* It's supposed to be autumn, dammit.

Oops, better go to lecture.

Bored. Upstairs with a specialist have to do absolutely nothing for except occasionally fax or photocopy something. Which is nice.

The aircon is making me sleepy.

It is far too hot and muggy. It's supposed to be AUTUMN. Grr.

*yawns*

We're having dinner tonight at homegroup because a few people are back from holidays. It's a smart move really because we'll all just want to talk anyway. Plus my homegroup cooks the *best* food eva. YUMM. No Maccas for me tonight! Whee!

I feel like doing Uni work. This is frustrating, since I'm supposed to be working. *sigh*

I hate the fact that I'm paying HECS* yet I'm not even working in the profession I'm studying for. *grumps*

* HECS is the scheme where the Government pays for you to go to Uni and you pay them back. It rocketh muchly cause it means that any Australian citizen can go to Uni essentially for free. Until they earn a certain amount of money.

We bought a table! It's pine, with six chairs, and it's one of those extender-tables where you pull it out and the middle comes up to make it longer. We scored it for $60 at a garage sale the parents-in-law's church was having. Mind you, we had to be up at 4:30am to be there by 5:30am to get it, but it was worth it. It's in great condition; just a few scratches to the top and the legs. And it fits nicely in our kitchen because it's smaller (unextended) than the table we had there which was originally donated by my parents. So yay.

Other than that, not alot has been happening. Uni starts in three weeks. Three weeks until the start of my last year of my arts degree. YAY. I then have next year, which is the prac year for education and then I GRADUATE. OH MY. So yes. Two whole years to go YAY.

*yawns* I need to start sleeping better. Meh. Hmm. I wonder if I have time to nap before work...

bored!

Yay! Stuck at work from 9am to 5pm today! *sighs*

At least it's air-con (it's going to be 34C and 99% humidity). And I'm getting paid time and a half. And I'm getting Tuesday off in lieu.

But there is no husband. And I have do *work*. *sighs*

Entertain me?
mebfeath: (daria!)
Not a whole lot to report here. Working lots.

My friends page is doing funky things; Firefox for Mac is useless and won't let virtually any other program work with it; and everything is taking an age to load. Meh. At least my flist is loading now; it had been refusing to load properly. *kicks safari*

Have been very tired lately, and I'm wondering if my iron levels are low again. I haven't been missing much sleep lately; if anything, I've been sleeping fairly well and for 8-9 hours a night, so I can't think why I'd be so tired. I felt alright this morning, but one of the girls told me how tired I looked when I got to work. I had *bags*. I never have full-on bags. I only even have the black marks, and that's usually just from sinus. So yes. Am going to ask when I get my allergy injection tomorrow.

We got given a 19" box monitor on Sunday - a friend didn't want it anymore and so they just gave it to us. It's really a blessing because our other one exploded a couple of months back and we were using a borrowed one from the parents-in-law which flickered alot. Yay.

It would appear we are going to win the 20-20 against England. Shock horror.

*kicks firefox* WORK, DAMMIT.

It's raining. It's been raining since late on Christmas night. RAIN FOR TWO WHOLE DAYS. And it's COLD. The Bureau of Meterology tells me it's 18 C. *shivers* I have trousers on IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER.

This is insane. Brisbane traditionally has hot, muggy weather in the mid-low 30's for December, January and February. And that's considered lucky - we spend alot of January in the high 30's usually. My 21st last year, which was in mid-October, was hot - I was wearing a short skirt and a singlet at midnight, and we were icky. The *only* day *this* summer we have hit above 28 was Christmas Day, and even then it struggled to hit 30. They're forecasting mid-high 20's for the rest of the week with showers every day. Don't get me wrong, we need the rain, but this is nuts.

Tomorrow's forecast? Min of 18, max of 23. *shakes head* It's BEAUTIFUL. Weird, but wonderful.

Had the day off today with the husband, which has been great. We don't get to see each other much, so it's been great to just go have coffee, shop a little - just generally hang together. So nice. We're both working 9-5/5:30 for the next couple of days, and then it's the weekend! I could definitely do these 5-day-weekends more often.

YAY RAIN. It just finished storming. It was so hot and muggy and ick and now it's practically *cold*. It's FANTASTIC. And it's still raining. YAY.

Iain has the day off tomorrow in lieu of working Saturday, and I'm just working in the afternoon. How exciting! i might actually see my husband for more than 5 minutes!

Anyway, bedtime.
mebfeath: (Meh - hritza)
It was 33C and disgusting yesterday, and now my computer is telling me it's about 22-23C. And it's cloudy, and everything is *yellow*. It's a bit eerie.

In other news, it's one of my colleague's last day today. In some ways I'm sad because she's really reliable and intelligent, but I'm mostly happy because she manipulates people constantly and is completely unhelpful at times. I don't mind her, but I find whenever I work with her I end up angry about something - usually because I feel really manipulated and hurt. Conflicting emotions.

It's nice to have our computer back*; if only to download the 394857934857 emails into Outlook. The more I use my mac the more I love it. It is the best eva.

Am feeling pretty much 100%, although my knees are giving me hell. I know it's my own fault; I need to go buy inserts for my shoes, but I think part of it now is coming from my lower back from that hospital bed. The pain.

Oh, and the Ashes start today! We are so going to win. It's awesome. *g* Ooh, we won the toss! Must remember that everyone else is an hour ahead of us. I have no doubt this will cause confusion considering we're the only one of 2 states who don't have daylight savings and the first test is being played here. Oh well, not our fault if the southerners want to mess with time and confuse people.

Husband is complaining overtime that he has to work and can't watch it, while I have a TV where I work *and* at home. Woe is him. Poor Husband.

Start work at 2pm, but I'm going in at around 1-ish to see one of the Doctors and chat to the girl who's job I'm partially taking over for a month. Whoo.

* - Monitor blew up. Literally. Poof.
mebfeath: (vmars - looking backward)
Boooorrreeeddd.....

I really am not in the mood to do this essay. Someone distract me.

I think I might have a sleep later. Hmm. Didn't get to bed until after 11, and was woken up at about 6am by the people next door banging things loudly. *sighs*

Expressway Reopens

YAY! *dances*

Hee. They played cricket on one of the busiest roads in Brisbane. *g*

The ramps are still shut, but that's ok. Only another 2 trips to and from Uni, and the semester is OVER, meaning I won't be using those ramps. YEAH.

Speaking of Uni, must start on Education. FINAL ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS SEMESTER YEAH.

I just really couldn't be bothered to do it. *sighs*

GRR.

The little-blinking-cursor-thing in Word is about 2mm tall, and it's seriously irritating me. And I can't find where to change it. GRRR.

I don't want to go to work at 12! I want to work on my assignment! GRR.

Methinks today, it's going to be the little things.

Traffic.

It's not normally a problem, but dude. They've closed the entire Riverside Expressway, which basically means travelling from one side of the city to the other is a nightmare. They're redirecting all the traffic through the city, and considering the Riverside Expressway is 3-4 lanes the whole way, you can imagine the chaos. They've had to close it because while they were resurfacing part of it, they discovered that one of the on-ramps had moved. This, apparently, in the world of on-ramps, off-ramps and bridges, is a bad thing. So basically in order to stop the whole thing becoming one with the Brisbane River, they've had to close it.

CHAOS. Traffic backed up for miles. Buses running 30 minutes late. People taking 3 times as long to get home. Buses getting stuck in the city so the lines for the buses at Uni and Toowong were astronomical. And it's going to take days to figure out what's wrong with the ramp, let alone fix it!

Meh. And they've moved the City-Uni bus stop. Again.

The boss, M, has got me 'prettying-up' her Vanuatu proposal. This woman has NO IDEA about formatting. When she's finished with a page, she hits 'enter' until she gets to a new page. Which is making life VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME. And I haven't even *touched* my essays in the last few days.

OH SO MUCH TO DO AND NO TIME ARRGHHH.

Headache.
mebfeath: (Default)
I scored a 512MB USB key last night from my father in law. I was telling my mother in law how I lost my pretty formatted/referenced version of my essay, and he brought out this USB key he'd scored from Ford. He organises the company cars for the whole of Queensland through them, so they do nice things like give him stuff and taking him racing, etc. He already has about 3, so he gave me this one, just in case the other one was about to die. Husband should be happy now; he can have his USB key back. ;)

Finished work early today because one of the specialists decided not to rock up without telling us, which meant we had too many staff on. It was too late to call the new girl (who is going to be an ex-employee very soon), so I left 2 hours early. It's good because now I can finish going through my essay and print it out before the lecture. Yay.

I think I'm just going to head home after classes today instead of staying back and going straight to homegroup. I'm pretty wrecked - I've only had about 6 hours sleep two nights in a row, and I slept really badly last night. I was going to stay behind and work on my other essays, but there's really nothing here for me, except to save time by removing 40 minutes of travel time. I don't think I'm *that* desperate yet. Besides, it'll be nice to actually arrive at homegroup in a car. And not have to have Macca's for dinner.

Dammit, I still have to go to lectures. It feels like the afternoon already. Maybe I'll skip the tute...but he knows I'm here and it's a small class and I'd feel bad...

Hmmm. Should actually get some work done.
mebfeath: (queenslander!)
I just got up from having an afternoon nap, but I think I might head back to bed. I feel *shockingly* tired. I can barely keep my eyes open and I've been up for about 15 mins. Weird.

Aim for today: Finish History tute presentation due Tuesday. Only about 2/5 to go, so it shouldn't take long. Definitely time for another sleep.

Why am I so tired?

Oh, and GO THE BRONCOS.
mebfeath: (ooh pirates!)
Army seizes power in Thailand

A military coup in Southeast Asia. Shock horror. Although Thailand is possibly a bit of an exception...having said that though, Thaksin had it coming. Seriously. That whole changing-the-law-to-suit-your-business-interests thing doesn't really go down all that well. Especially when it goes against the consitution, and doesn't really benefit anyone else.

English exam in about 20 mins. I'm not too worried, but I might just read through my notes one more time before the lecture starts. Then it's off to the library to finish my Ed assignment. Fantastic.

Mum's birthday dinner tonight - I'm cooking beef and red wine casserole with mashed potato and green beans. It's not really a casserole; it's more of a thick-ish sauce with beef strips. But it's yummy.

'Update Captain's Log'...ooh, it's international pirates day. YAY.

Oops, lecture starting. Must run.
mebfeath: (blueberries)
Yes, have been mildly busy.

Had church camp on the weekend, which was awesome. And we're going away this weekend. So excited. Cannot WAIT.

English exam tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard, considering it's only 30 minutes, but I'll still study a bit in the morning. Then it's finishing my Education assignment, and hopefully handing that in. Otherwise I'll have to rock in at Uni on Friday, which is going to be a pain.

Scored 4/5 for my history outline, and 8/10 for the select bibliography, so I'm happy. Oh, and a 6 (Distinction) for the education assignment that ate my brain. I'll just be happy to pass this semester, to be honest. Doing well is a bonus that makes me happy.

Mum's birthday today, but we're having a dinner tomorrow night because they're out.

Tired.
