Bored. Upstairs with a specialist have to do absolutely nothing for except occasionally fax or photocopy something. Which is nice.

The aircon is making me sleepy.

It is far too hot and muggy. It's supposed to be AUTUMN. Grr.

*yawns*

We're having dinner tonight at homegroup because a few people are back from holidays. It's a smart move really because we'll all just want to talk anyway. Plus my homegroup cooks the *best* food eva. YUMM. No Maccas for me tonight! Whee!

I feel like doing Uni work. This is frustrating, since I'm supposed to be working. *sigh*

I hate the fact that I'm paying HECS* yet I'm not even working in the profession I'm studying for. *grumps*

* HECS is the scheme where the Government pays for you to go to Uni and you pay them back. It rocketh muchly cause it means that any Australian citizen can go to Uni essentially for free. Until they earn a certain amount of money.

I have created a new journal called [livejournal.com profile] mstumusings for my media studies subject. Basically we have to have a journal/blog/myspace so we can post each week about music/music culture/music subculture related things. If you're into that kind of thing, it could be remotely interesting. If not, don't bother reading it.

I will not be offended if all of you don't flock to friend it; I guarantee alot of it will be boring. But please feel free to read and comment on my posts - I'd really appreciate it because it'll probably impress my lecturer and help me learn more! So feel free to read/comment/ignore. Whatever.

Have I mentioned how much I love the fastness of my uni internets? Ah. Love.

*downloads*

Tragically, there is a 150MB download limit per month. Woe.
mebfeath: (VM - wins)
We bought a table! It's pine, with six chairs, and it's one of those extender-tables where you pull it out and the middle comes up to make it longer. We scored it for $60 at a garage sale the parents-in-law's church was having. Mind you, we had to be up at 4:30am to be there by 5:30am to get it, but it was worth it. It's in great condition; just a few scratches to the top and the legs. And it fits nicely in our kitchen because it's smaller (unextended) than the table we had there which was originally donated by my parents. So yay.

Other than that, not alot has been happening. Uni starts in three weeks. Three weeks until the start of my last year of my arts degree. YAY. I then have next year, which is the prac year for education and then I GRADUATE. OH MY. So yes. Two whole years to go YAY.

*yawns* I need to start sleeping better. Meh. Hmm. I wonder if I have time to nap before work...

ooohhh...

I got 23.5/30 for my History essay. Not as well as I would have liked, but still a 6 (Distinction). Now I just have to get at least 75% for the exam, and I'll get a 6 overall. YAY. Must study hard.

I woke up this morning at 5:40am, rolled out of bed, got in the shower, and realised I start at 7:30, so I didn't need to get up until about 6:15am. *cries* And I might not get a sleep this afternoon because the brother is meeting me at Uni to look at some books, and I don't finish until 3pm anyway. And I have homegroup tonight, and a 7am (definitely!) tomorrow. And I had a 7am yesterday.

Three 5:30am starts tend to tire me out, especially when I don't get to bed on Tuesday until after 10:30pm because of homegroup, and then have to be up at 5:30am. *sighs*

It is SO HARD BEING ME.
mebfeath: (vmars - looking backward)
Boooorrreeeddd.....

I really am not in the mood to do this essay. Someone distract me.

I think I might have a sleep later. Hmm. Didn't get to bed until after 11, and was woken up at about 6am by the people next door banging things loudly. *sighs*

whoo!

Expressway Reopens

YAY! *dances*

Hee. They played cricket on one of the busiest roads in Brisbane. *g*

The ramps are still shut, but that's ok. Only another 2 trips to and from Uni, and the semester is OVER, meaning I won't be using those ramps. YEAH.

Speaking of Uni, must start on Education. FINAL ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS SEMESTER YEAH.

I just really couldn't be bothered to do it. *sighs*

WOE.

VMars isn't on tonight, according to the TV Guide. *grumps* And I was looking forward to it. *sighs* Stupid C10.

On the upside, I've finished my essay. YAY. Now I just have to format it and do the references, and it's all done. Until the husband points out the stupid mistakes I've made, and I rewrite it. But that will be tomorrow.

I shall watch more of Midsomer Murders, and then off to bed. SLEEP.

Yay, go me. But at least now I have an argument; it's not very complicated, but I think it answers the question well. Hopefully my tutor will agree.

Aww, I have to start getting ready in half an hour. *sighs*
mebfeath: (Meh - hritza)
OMG IT'S DONE.

I have just finished formatting the proposal for the Vanuatu Cervical Cancer Prevention Scheme for my boss. All 50 pages. It's only taken me 2 hours. *sighs*

This also means I got no Uni work done. *freaks*

Bed now. Stress tomorrow.

whoof.

Traffic.

It's not normally a problem, but dude. They've closed the entire Riverside Expressway, which basically means travelling from one side of the city to the other is a nightmare. They're redirecting all the traffic through the city, and considering the Riverside Expressway is 3-4 lanes the whole way, you can imagine the chaos. They've had to close it because while they were resurfacing part of it, they discovered that one of the on-ramps had moved. This, apparently, in the world of on-ramps, off-ramps and bridges, is a bad thing. So basically in order to stop the whole thing becoming one with the Brisbane River, they've had to close it.

CHAOS. Traffic backed up for miles. Buses running 30 minutes late. People taking 3 times as long to get home. Buses getting stuck in the city so the lines for the buses at Uni and Toowong were astronomical. And it's going to take days to figure out what's wrong with the ramp, let alone fix it!

Meh. And they've moved the City-Uni bus stop. Again.

The boss, M, has got me 'prettying-up' her Vanuatu proposal. This woman has NO IDEA about formatting. When she's finished with a page, she hits 'enter' until she gets to a new page. Which is making life VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME. And I haven't even *touched* my essays in the last few days.

OH SO MUCH TO DO AND NO TIME ARRGHHH.

Headache.

I scored a 512MB USB key last night from my father in law. I was telling my mother in law how I lost my pretty formatted/referenced version of my essay, and he brought out this USB key he'd scored from Ford. He organises the company cars for the whole of Queensland through them, so they do nice things like give him stuff and taking him racing, etc. He already has about 3, so he gave me this one, just in case the other one was about to die. Husband should be happy now; he can have his USB key back. ;)

Finished work early today because one of the specialists decided not to rock up without telling us, which meant we had too many staff on. It was too late to call the new girl (who is going to be an ex-employee very soon), so I left 2 hours early. It's good because now I can finish going through my essay and print it out before the lecture. Yay.

I think I'm just going to head home after classes today instead of staying back and going straight to homegroup. I'm pretty wrecked - I've only had about 6 hours sleep two nights in a row, and I slept really badly last night. I was going to stay behind and work on my other essays, but there's really nothing here for me, except to save time by removing 40 minutes of travel time. I don't think I'm *that* desperate yet. Besides, it'll be nice to actually arrive at homegroup in a car. And not have to have Macca's for dinner.

Dammit, I still have to go to lectures. It feels like the afternoon already. Maybe I'll skip the tute...but he knows I'm here and it's a small class and I'd feel bad...

Hmmm. Should actually get some work done.
mebfeath: (I feel like crap on toast)
Yup, just lost all the work I did this afternoon.

All the fiddly referencing, the cutting and pasting, the adding of quotes, etc. The work that has taken about an hour and a half. The work I was just trying copy to the hard drive because I'd finished and didn't want to lose it.

There are not words.

*cries*

ETA - I don't suppose anyone knows how I can get it back? It was saved on a USB key, so I'm not liking my chances.

Guh.

This is driving me insane.

We're supposed to use around 12 sources for our Education assignment. Easy done. The catch? They have to be no older than 2002, and 6 have to be books.

The library doesn't have a single book on visual impairment or blindness (the topic I've chosen) that was published in 2002 or later.

How am I supposed to do this?
mebfeath: (queenslander!)
I just got up from having an afternoon nap, but I think I might head back to bed. I feel *shockingly* tired. I can barely keep my eyes open and I've been up for about 15 mins. Weird.

Aim for today: Finish History tute presentation due Tuesday. Only about 2/5 to go, so it shouldn't take long. Definitely time for another sleep.

Why am I so tired?

Oh, and GO THE BRONCOS.
mebfeath: (ooh pirates!)
Exam was insanely easy. I know I got 9 marks, and I should get at least another 3, so out of a total of 15, I'm happy. Considering I did the least amount of study I have ever done for an exam. YAY.

I really have to finish this assignment, but it's not going very fast, dammit. *sighs* It's an interesting assignment, but there are many other things in this world that are far more interesting. I had hoped that by holing myself up in the library I would get some work done, but...well, I have a wireless internet connection. Need I say more?

Am meeting friends for lunch at 1pm, so that'll be fun.

*sighs* Sleepy.
mebfeath: (ooh pirates!)
Army seizes power in Thailand

A military coup in Southeast Asia. Shock horror. Although Thailand is possibly a bit of an exception...having said that though, Thaksin had it coming. Seriously. That whole changing-the-law-to-suit-your-business-interests thing doesn't really go down all that well. Especially when it goes against the consitution, and doesn't really benefit anyone else.

English exam in about 20 mins. I'm not too worried, but I might just read through my notes one more time before the lecture starts. Then it's off to the library to finish my Ed assignment. Fantastic.

Mum's birthday dinner tonight - I'm cooking beef and red wine casserole with mashed potato and green beans. It's not really a casserole; it's more of a thick-ish sauce with beef strips. But it's yummy.

'Update Captain's Log'...ooh, it's international pirates day. YAY.

Oops, lecture starting. Must run.
mebfeath: (blueberries)
Yes, have been mildly busy.

Had church camp on the weekend, which was awesome. And we're going away this weekend. So excited. Cannot WAIT.

English exam tomorrow. Shouldn't be too hard, considering it's only 30 minutes, but I'll still study a bit in the morning. Then it's finishing my Education assignment, and hopefully handing that in. Otherwise I'll have to rock in at Uni on Friday, which is going to be a pain.

Scored 4/5 for my history outline, and 8/10 for the select bibliography, so I'm happy. Oh, and a 6 (Distinction) for the education assignment that ate my brain. I'll just be happy to pass this semester, to be honest. Doing well is a bonus that makes me happy.

Mum's birthday today, but we're having a dinner tomorrow night because they're out.

Tired.
mebfeath: (Default)
I am at Uni, and due to stuff I don't really understand on a technical level (something to do with proxys and https and other stuff) MSN doesn't work. And I have to fiddle around with the settings on AIM to get that to work, and it's all a big hassle.

Thus, meebo = love. And it works in Safari (Mac's version of IE). Bonus. I am happy.

In other news, I managed to get one part of my history assignment done which wasn't due for a few weeks yet, so that's nice. It'll get it out of the way, so I can now foucs on getting this report done (*waves goodbye to Saturday afternoon at Church Camp*) which is due Friday week. *sighs*

And I have an English exam next week too. *sighs loudly* It shouldn't require a lot of study, which is handy, considering I don't have a lot of spare time thanks to this report. And I'm already sitting on 14/15 for that subject. It should be an interesting week...

C'mon, people! I'm in the middle of my history essay, and I need some serious distracting here!
