Poll Quits International Football
ENGLISH referee Graham Poll has decided to retire from international tournaments after his high-profile blunder in the Australia-Croatia Group F game at the World Cup finals. He showed three yellow cards to Josip Simunic of Croatia before sending him off in the 2-2 draw on June 22. A clearly emotional Poll said on Sky Sports News that he deeply regretted his mistake, which he described as "inexcusable".
I don't think he should have retired; he had a good track record until this game. I kinda feel bad.

Date: 2006-06-30 02:35 am (UTC)I agree though, that he shouldn't have had to retire from international tournaments, though I'm sure he'll still be reffing the English Premier League. There were other refs in the tournament that were much worse. Like that one in our game with Italy ....

*laughs* HECK yeah. We just seemed to get a really bad run of refs...
